The group of residents within this area all co-own part of the land surrounding the lake and are in charge of its upkeep. The lake has a boarded walkway around the perimeter which provides an area to walk and enjoy the views. Unfortunately, the lake also had Willow trees that were failing and damaging the boardwalk. This also posed a risk to public safety. There was no vehicle access (only foot traffic) so we had to come up with a way to move vast amounts of debris to a staging area on the opposite side of the lake.
The Lakes
The Lakes (Residential)
Brief:
Action:
Our method was to utilise the use of a helicopter which would carry all the debris over the lake and drop it off at our staging/processing area. As helicopters are rather expensive, and with the objective of achieving best outcomes and minimising costs for our customer, we spent 3 days prepping and removing any trees we could safely and prepared them for the arrival of the helicopter. As some of these trees were actually already in the water we brought in a jet boat which allowed our crew to reach the trees and work from a safe platform.
Result:
The helicopter touched down, straight to work and with everything prepared and ready, the job went as planned. This site had some 12 staff members who all played a vital role in getting the job finished. It was to date our craziest project and one we are happy to say we pulled off.
